HOW TO: Tape Off Door Hinges

1. Start by pulling off a section of tape almost 2 inches longer than the hinge

2. Next, cut a piece of tape the same length as the hinge and fold it in half and place it in the center of the first piece in step 1

3. Place the masking tape on one side of the hinge with the door in the closed position

4. Repeat that process for the second half of the hinge currently exposed as you see it in the photo above

5. Place the second piece you made over the hinge and seal the tape around the edge to close the pocket

6. Now, open the door and place one strip of masking tape on each half of the hinge

7. make another piece as you did in Step 1 and 2 and place it in the center over the pin portion of the hinge

8. You can trim around the hinge with a breakaway blade

Raul, We use 3M #2020 over metal. It’s the least affected by cold and damn weather on metal.
